Prospect and Vision
The industrial society of the century is expected to unfold nanotechnology, which requires the development of new materials at the molecular level to meet the demands of high performance, multifunctionality and light weight. Nanotechnology can be applied to displays, home appliances, automobiles, semiconductors, computers, telecommunications, fuel cell materials, etc. so that the US, UK and Japan are actively investing not only at the national level but also in private companies. In Korea, we are doing our best to develop nano technology to foster 10 next generation growth industries. New materials engineering will play a pivotal role in the development of nanotechnology since nanomaterials sizes are of 1-100 nm as like molecular materials level. As a result, the demand for professionals is expected to increase rapidly, who majored in new materials engineering which is closely related to the materials and components industries,
