Introduction and Characteristics
The Chemical industry is the backbone of Korea, and it covers various fields like petrol chemistry, polymer chemistry, medical industry, cosmetic industry, inorganic chemistry, and engineering. Recently, the chemical industry plays an important role in the core industries of the country which are the IT industry (semiconductor, display field like LCD), nano technology industry, biotechnology, and energy / environment industry (new recycled energy, atmosphere / water quality). Therefore, the chemical engineering department pursues fostering professional engineers who can contribute the chemical industry field with practice and theory. To achieve this, the chemical engineering department educates not only the fundamental studies like basic principles and calculations in chemical engineering, chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, unit operations, and computer and chemical engineering, but also the advanced fields which are expected to lead the national industries in the 21 century and require more manpower, like precision chemistry / process engineering field, chemical material / high polymer engineering field, catalyst / energy field, and information technology / bio technology in focus. Also, departments develop hands-on experiences and field problem solving with various experiments / practice lectures and project lectures and support to work actively in the relative companies, government-related organizations, industrial / national / public laboratories, and educational fields.
