Introduction and Characteristics
The department aims to research today’s youth problems and systemize an effective of way of teaching the youth as a discipline as well as to foster capable young leaders.
The Study of Youth Education and Leadership is based on Educational and Psychological studies and deeply originated from the methodology of social education. Though the undergraduate department does not divide specified major, detailed sectors of research can be divided into Youth Education, Social Education and Administration of Youth Education.
The purpose of the department is to enable about twelve million juveniles the opportunity to learn cultural phenomenon and creativity through courses and volunteer activities to become young global leaders, leading the country in the 21th century. These young leaders are learning leadership by participating in regional training facilities operated by the government.
Currently, about 580 youth training facilities such as youth halls and youth training centers need more professional teachers. Moreover, the government is planning invest in building more than ten thousand youth training centers in local communities to nurture the youth. To operate these facilities properly, about two thousand professional teachers are expected to be required in the next decade from 2001.The Department of Youth Education and Leadership efforts and educational results were recognized by the Minister of Culture and Sports in August of 1995 and designated as the First official Youth Education institution in South Korea. The Department has acquired 1st and 2nd degree youth counselor licenses and the first doctor’s course was established in November 1996.
Also, graduates with good attitude and academic achievements are given 2nd degree youth counselor license and the opportunity to work in public youth training and counseling agencies and institutions

All subjects are three credits per three hours a week (except for Youth Education Leadership class ,two credit points per two hours a week)
