Introduction and Characteristics
Recently, media environment has been rapidly changed. Based on digital technologies, media is experiencing various changes that no one could ever imagine. Exiting characteristics of communication has changed into multi-channeled and interactive way. Also, in terms of technology, the confusion of broadcasting and digital will be accelerated and existing newspapers will strengthen their online sector, further substituting the existing media space to digital. Moreover, all sectors in the future, including politics, economy, society, culture and art will expand the use of digital media. Accordingly, interdisciplinary difference of existing media studies is already blurring and the knowledge and technology of media requires a new way of approaching.
Therefore, the Department of Digital Media focuses on interdisciplinary education of knowledge and technology for the New Media environment. As well as pursuing comprehensive understanding of the New Media’s expression, technology and environment, the Department is aiming to teach capabilities required to produce and distribute knowledge information for the New Media. In this reason, the Department of Digital Media is run by following three principles:

The Department will research and educate overall journalism and communication using the New Media including the Internet, mobile, etc. as well as conventional media such as human communication, newspaper, image(broadcasting/movie). In addition to systematic theoretical education, practical learning that can be applied in the field is included.
In particular, the department of Digital Media aims to cultivate the ability to produce content, not to teach new media technologies. Also training programs are provided for content production.
