Introduction and Specialization
The curriculum of the Department of Child Development and Education consists of various subjects including Child Development, Early Childhood Care & Education, and Child & Family Counseling to foster the professionals to meet social changes.
Graduates of Child Studies major acquire 2nd degree childcare teacher licenses and 2nd degree kindergarten teacher licenses issued by the Ministry of Public Health and Welfare, enabling them to work as teachers at various children's education institutes such as public/private day care schools and kindergartens. Besides, the ways to become professional child counselors, youth counselors, family counselors, and play therapists are also wide open. The graduates can pursue their career goals in various workplaces, including education institutes related to infant and early childhood, textbook and teaching material companies, publishing companies, audiovisual products for children, research institutes of child development and counseling, story book writers and illustrators, child education program companies, etc.
Meanwhile, year after year many graduates continue on to complete master’s and doctor’s degrees at our graduate schools majoring in Child Development and Early Childhood Education.
