Introduction and Specialization
International Department of Design in the 21st century It has fostered skillful designers who can adapt themselves immediately to the field ever since the Department of Design was founded in 1990, and they are now carrying out various activities in the Korean industrial design field. The young and passionate professors composed with invited professors in Korea and abroad, try to provide students with world leading education. Through vigorous activities in research and industry collaborative projects, they continue their powerful steps to grow into a 21st world design department. In addition, it has a long-term development plan and continuously reforming its educational system which can lead students to become professional designers. Moreover, according to the professional and differentiated plans of the department the Media Communication Design Major was established in 2001 to improve competitiveness in Korean industrial design world and is putting more effort in multilaterally
Industrial Design
This major is the human efforts to understand and convey an ideology, emotion and desire of a human being through a product. More specifically, educational objective of the major is to create living culture for the purpose of quality of life through such efforts. The education contents are designed to have the students acquire practical design capability to be reflected in the product and accumulate the knowledge and experiences. It puts an emphasis on the social role of education by fostering future designers to be leaders in the rapidly changing information age as well as nurturing socially responsible professionals who understand the importance of human beings.
Visual Communication Design
The Visual Communication Design focuses on developing students' creativity and expressive skills by utilizing state-of-the-art media to meet the changing social demands and to provide visual information of various quality. In addition, the department, by putting more emphasis on basic education, cultivates basic modeling ability for continuous growth as professionals and along with, focuses on fostering competent designers with true sense of cultural background as a member of society
Media Communication Design
Education goal of the major is to foster excellent human resources with the ability to adapt to new media required for changing multimedia and high technology environments as well as general understanding of digital image culture. It is the field of digital media and digital animation contents. Furthermore, it contributes to meet the various demands of digital environment by collaborating with the new media industry to be a leader in the high value-added animation and media software in the 21st century.
Fashion Design
The learning outcomes of the Fashion Design major is to foster more creative and competent fashion designer and professionals required in international and specialized fashion situation. It provides an all-round education that meets the demands of today’s fashion designers, including planning and coordinating, design and development and marketing of fashion products. This major also supports students to participate various contests, internships and exhibition opportunities to improve practical abilities
Mission Statement
Creative Designers who can lead the industry into the new age TheDepartment of Design, founded in 1990, has educational goals that students can get and research effective methods to maximize their potential and be leading creative designers soon or later. While specially, positively attracting academy and business projects makes social values of education and research larger, many theories about social and natural science are used for inspecting and applying design. Curriculum
Unlike other studies, the design field’s trend, technique and tendency are much more unpredictable. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly revise the curriculum to actively include rapidly changing social demands such as new trends of design.
